ARCHDIOCESAN CATHOLIC BIBLICAL AND CATECHETICAL SCHOOLS
The Division of Lay Formation in Our Lady of the New
Advent Theological Institute offers opportunities to adults
for ongoing formation in faith and preparation for the
lay apostolate at convenient locations throughout the
Archdiocese. This Division currently includes the Archdiocesan
Catechetical School and the Catholic Biblical School.
The Archdiocesan Catholic Biblical School was founded
in 1982 to help adults in the Archdiocese of Denver learn
to know, love and live Scripture. The Catholic Biblical
School offers a program of in-depth Scripture study in
the Catholic tradition. It provides both an understanding
of the meaning of God's word and the application of its
message to our lives today. The entire Bible is taught
in the four-year program. The initial two-year program
of Basic Biblical Studies covers only the foundational
books of the Old Testament (year one) and of the New Testament
(year two). The remaining books of both the Old and New
Testaments are studied in the third and fourth years of

The Catechetical School provides sound instruction in
Catholic doctrine, Sacred Scripture, Christian living
and catechetical methods, based upon Sacred Scripture,
the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the General Directory
for Catechesis. These classes are open to all who are
interested. Parish catechists and Catholic School educators
can obtain archdiocesan certification through the Catechetical
