Evangelization

Evangelization is a fancy word for “spreading good news." We see loads of stories in the New Testament of people who have experienced God’s unconditional love and forgiveness, and can’t help but tell everyone they know about it. It’s a lot like when you get a gift you’ve always wanted. You just need to tell someone. The gift we receive from God is eternal life! No gift is better than that. God’s command to “go and tell people all about it” is no burden to us at all when we’ve come to experience the gift of His love.

Evangelization at St. Joseph

Here at St Joseph’s, we work to share the good news of Jesus formally, through programs like RCIA, and also informally, through relationships and invitation. If you’d like to learn more about how we share the good news through RCIA click here.

Everyone at our parish is invited to share the good news of God’s grace with the people in their lives. It’s hard to share the good news when you don’t feel like you yourself have had a chance to really experience God’s goodness. If you feel like you’ve never had a chance to experience God’s love, or have never really heard the good news of God’s promises, we would love to encourage you to join an adult faith formation course on campus, a digital course through our Parish Flocknote, or study at your own pace from home through Formed.org.

Maybe you are someone who has already experienced how amazing God’s love is in your own life! We would love for you to join us in sharing the good news of that experience both formally and informally. If you would like to learn more about how you can do that, please contact the Parish Office at 303.279.4464.

Every Christian is challenged, here and now, to be actively engaged in evangelization; indeed, anyone who has truly experienced God’s saving love does not need much time or lengthy training to go out and proclaim that love.

Prayer for Evangelization

Mary, Virgin and Mother, you who, moved by the Holy Spirit, welcomed the word of life in the depths of your humble faith: as you gave yourself completely to the Eternal One, help us to say our own "yes" to the urgent call, as pressing as ever, to proclaim the good news of Jesus.

Filled with Christ's presence, you brought joy to John the Baptist, making him exult in the womb of his mother. Brimming over with joy, you sang of the great things done by God. Standing at the foot of the cross with unyielding faith, you received the joyful comfort of the resurrection, and joined the disciples in awaiting the Spirit so that the evangelizing Church might be born.

Obtain for us now a new ardor born of the resurrection, that we may bring to all the Gospel of life which triumphs over death. Give us a holy courage to seek new paths, that the gift of unfading beauty may reach every man and woman.

Virgin of listening and contemplation, Mother of love, Bride of the eternal wedding feast, pray for the Church, whose pure icon you are, that she may never be closed in on herself or lose her passion for establishing God's kingdom.

Star of the new evangelization, help us to bear radiant witness to communion, service, ardent and generous faith, justice and love of the poor, that the joy of the Gospel may reach to the ends of the earth, illuminating even the fringes of our world.

Mother of the living Gospel, wellspring of happiness for God's little ones, pray for us.

Amen. Alleluia!

-Joy of the Gospel, Pope Francis
